General surgery spans a wide field, from opening the abdomen to thyroid procedures, so a set has to carry cutting and grasping instruments together with retractors suited to different working depths. The sets on this page are grouped accordingly: Appendicitis Hernia, Biopsy, Large Abdominal, Medium Abdominal, Hemorrhoid, Choledoch Bile Duct Surgery and Thyroid Goiter.

All instruments are made of stainless steel and finished to withstand repeated autoclave cycles. They are covered for five years against workmanship defects, material faults and corrosion.

Set contents are not fixed. A set can be composed around your own instrument list, with items added or removed. Click the set images below to review their contents.

The question that comes up most often with abdominal sets is the choice of retractor. As working depth increases the blade should get longer, but the handle should not gain weight at the same rate, or the assistant's grip tires and the field shifts. Keeping retractors with different blade lengths in the same set is more practical than relying on one large retractor.

In thyroid and bile duct procedures the field is narrow, so fine tipped clamps and scissors come to the fore. Separating these two needs when composing a set also makes counting after sterilisation easier: there are fewer items and a missing instrument is noticed sooner.
